Role of the Green Schools Committee
The Green Schools Committee continues to work proactively towards reducing waste and improving recycling practices across the school by promoting environmental awareness among students and staff, encouraging responsible waste management behaviours, and implementing practical initiatives that support sustainability.
Through regular monitoring, education, and hands-on activities, the committee aims to embed environmentally responsible practices into daily school life and foster a shared commitment to caring for the school environment.
Recent Activities
Recent initiatives include:
- Litter-picking mornings
- Introduction of bin monitors
- Ensuring waste and recycling bins are available in all classrooms, offices, and the staffroom
All bins are clearly and correctly labelled to support proper waste segregation.
Goals (Child-Friendly)
- Increase recycling in the school by 20%
- Reduce unnecessary waste going into the general (black) bin
- Increase awareness among students, staff, and parents about litter and waste
- Reduce energy levels
